The marketing tactic I want to highlight today is the humble countdown timer:

Countdown timers are creators of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and are designed specifically to create a Sense Of Urgency in people to buy:

I used to hate these things and thought they were cheesy....until I realized something:

I learned this when building out all the promotions for AppSumo that having a hard deadline for something really makes people get in or out.
You'll see a massive spike in sales when scarcity and countdown timers are involved (assuming people actually want the product):

I love podcasts and a lot of other people do as well.
• I spend 2-4 hours a day listening to podcasts.
• 80% of my thinking is influenced by podcasts.

In previous years your top 5 people would be the people who happen to be geographically closest to you....now that has been expanded dramatically.

- Sleeping
- Going on walks

- Music
- Not disturbing others while trying to watch something in public
