An educational (and fun) email by Copywriting Course. Enjoy!

I love images, but I even more-love a good moving .gif!

Checkout this one for an email reader service:

The gif shows a bunch of emails going into the system, then coming out as a report. Sometimes a gif like this can explain a product REALLY well.

The downside is they're kind of hard to make.

I use either Canva, Photoshop, or sometimes Camtasia (for video gifs) to make them. Haven't found a much better way yet.

Wisdom:

I'm doing a road trip this weekend, and THIS is something I never knew till I saw this chart:

Even number interstates: Side to Side
Odd number interstates: Up and Down

I love it when a simple graphic like this teaches you something useful!

Interesting:

This is the one-page letter that made famous Gary Halbert a millionaire in 1971:

He would print out a simple one-pager, sealed in an envelope, and send it to every person in the phone book with that same last name.

It sold them a β€œCoat of Arms” image and report based on their last name.

This one was sent to every person with the β€œMacdonald” last name across the United States.

It was a pretty ingenious method back before everyone had the internet.

Picture:

I love that show "The Crown" on NetFlix about several of the royal family members.

The show feels very authentic and royal, and I've always been impressed how well they've captured the characters with their real counterparts:

Queen Elizabth II:

REAL / THE CROWN

Prince Phillip:

REAL / THE CROWN

Essay:

I like this quote:

β€œOnce you understand the motivation, reward and punishment structure of any system, you can begin to control it.”
- Guido Van Rossum (founder of the Python programming language)

I once heard Cesar Millan (the Dog Whisperer) say all dogs like at least 1 of these 3 different rewards:
- Toys
- Food
- Affection

Once you know the type of reward a dog responds to best, it makes it much easier to train!

Hugsy likes toys, food, and affection:

Sid is primarily motivated by food, and is "meh" on the rest:

Poe mostly responds to affection:

Shae responds to food and affection:

Mochi responds to affection:

Knowing the reward/punishment structure seems to help in any system!

Splurge:

Know what makes people buy? Sales pages.

I like collecting sales pages because you can see all the different elements you need to really convince someone to buy something:

Updating sales pages is on of the biggest things we do inside Copywriting Course:

"Thanks for the feedback and rewrites of our landing page. Our email list has grown by 180 people over the last two weeks!" -KR

"Conversion are up by 50% on my landing page. Thanks for the feedback and rewrites." -KF

"Thanks for the help on my landing page. In the last week I've booked three paid calls from it!" -GD

We also do weekly Live Reviews each week....we clip them up for members to watch:

Showing quizzes to Instagram audience results in 160+ emails signed up last week, now strategizing how to make this happen every week

Reviewing a page about becoming a financial professional, we add a lot more β€œspecificity” to it

I've put together a 'pitch deck' / presentation I can use when I am on a call with a potential client…we then make it even better

Have a great Friday!
