Golden Rules For Living
Updated on
This old green sign looks like grandma’s kitchen decor, but it’s actually a tiny operating system for your life. Each one-line rule takes almost no effort, yet together they nuke 90% of daily annoyances. Think of these as micro-rules: tiny behavior defaults that quietly keep your home, team, or office from descending into chaos.
The Micro-Rules From The Sign
If you open it, close it. If you turn it on, turn it off. If you unlock it, lock it up. If you break it, admit it. If you borrow it, return it. If you value it, take care of it. If you make a mess, clean it up. If you move it, put it back.
Why These Tiny Rules Work So Well
- They are binary: you either did the thing or you didn’t, so there’s no debate.
- They close loops immediately instead of pushing cleanup onto “future you.”
- They turn vague values like respect and responsibility into concrete actions.
- They scale from home to office to teams with zero extra training or meetings.
