Marketing is figuring out how to get your product in front of people's faces.— Neville Medhora
That stick figure drawing says everything you need to know about marketing. One person is literally shoving a bright yellow square right in front of another person’s face. That yellow square is your product. The whole game is: can they clearly see it, understand it, and react to it?
Grab a sheet of paper and redraw the image for your own business. Label the left figure as you, the right figure as your ideal customer, and the yellow square as your offer. Now list every way you can extend that “arm” today: send an email, post a demo video, run a tiny ad, message five prospects. The more arms you draw, the more faces your product gets in front of.
Dropbox put their product in front of people by using a simple explainer video on their homepage that went viral and drove signups.
Dollar Shave Club shoved their product in front of people’s faces with a low-budget, high-attention video ad that spread everywhere online.
